#FORTHECULTURE: CARDI B TOPS BILLBOARD CHARTS MAKING HISTORY

POSTED SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2017 | BY CSUITEMUSIC

Cardi B just made history! After spending weeks in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow” has finally shot to the #1 spot, beating out Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”.

This makes Cardi B only the second female emcee in 19 years to top the pop charts without another featured artist on the track. The only other female rapper who can hold that claim is the queen Ms. Lauryn Hill, whose solo single “Doo Woo (That Thing)” debuted at #1 back in 1998. That's not bad company to be in!

“Bodak” has been lighting up the airwaves and playlists all summer long. Everyone (including Janet Jackson) were turning up to Cardi’s undeniably catchy anthem.

From Nicki Minaj, to Remy Ma, Young MA, and now Cardi B, it’s great to see more female rappers getting the shine they absolutely deserve for their hard work and contributions to the culture!
