MOVIE REVIEW: TRYING TO FALL ASLEEP? WATCH WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

POSTED JULY 17TH, 2017 | BY MICHAELA P. SHELTON

War for the Planet of the Apes was the most boring movie ever. I am a huge fan of the Planet of the Ape franchise, so I was super excited about this new movie. The first two movies were really entertaining so I was thinking that War for the Planet of the Apes was going to follow this trend... boy was I wrong.

*SPOILER ALERT*

The movie opened with the Colonel's army finding the apes hide out. The apes overpowered the humans and they subsequently ended up holding two soldiers hostage. Cesar sparred the soldiers lives so they could go back and deliver the message to the Colonel to leave the apes alone. The Colonel didn't listen and he sent more soldiers to the ape hide out. They ended up killing many apes including Cesar's wife and his son, Rocket. After discovering that the Colonel killed his family,  Cesar vows to get revenge. Cesar instructs the other apes to go find safety and he goes on his voyage to find the Colonel and his army.

Blah blah blah happens for the next hour and then comes the war you've been waiting for! But the war isn't even between the Colonel's army and the apes, the war is between the army and another army of people. Weird right? The plot was all over the place and some parts of the movie could have for sure been edited out.

First off the movie was extremely long. It got to the point where the plot was dragging on and I just wanted the movie to end already. If it isn't Harry Potter, a movie shouldn't be more than two hours, period point blank. Also, the movie title is extremely deceiving. When you hear War for the Planet of the Apes, what do you think of? I personally think of continuous battle scenes. Don't get me wrong, there were some battle scenes, but a lot of the movie was following Cesar and his sidekicks on their expedition to find the colonel.

Don't go see this movie guys. You will be highly disappointed and maybe even fall asleep. If you like the franchise just continue to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
