I remember sitting with a group of friends, overhearing a conversation about how a friend of mine attended a music festival, and met a young lady by the name of ‘Dua Lipa’. And honestly ever since then I can not get away from the name. Dua Lipa is a singer/songwriter originally from the UK. She attended Sylvia Young Theater School and had her father, Dukagjin Lipa (an Albanian rock singer) as a musical influence growing up and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Dua and her family moved back to Kosovo, in Albania, where her parents are originally from in 2008 and then returned to the UK when she was 15 to pursue her singing career.

The singer/songwriter has been in the music industry for about 7 years, and she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. Dua started out covering songs and Youtube and gained an immense amount of likes. Her popularity on the tube reached such a high level, the singer got signed to Warner Music Group in 2015. Not only did she release her first single “New Love”, but she also began working as a model. Can you believe being so busy at 15 years of age?

Her second single  ‘Be the One’ topped within the top 10 on the European charts. She received some recognition for this specific song in both Australia and New Zealand. Fader Magazine also saw talent within Lipa’s success and put together a documentary called ‘See in Blue’ released in December 2016. Lipa released her fourth single ‘Hotter than Hell’ in May of 2016 and gained recognition worldwide, mainly in the UK topping the charts at number 15.

So guys, in August 2016 Dua released ‘Blow Your Mind’ which, for the first time in her music career, landed her on the Billboard charts in the US at number 72, along with charting on the Billboard Dance Club Songs. The singer was featured on a song with Sean Paul titled ‘No Lie’. She also recorded ‘Lost in Your Light’ featuring Miguel and in January of 2017 released another single with Martin Garrix called ‘Scared to Be Lonely.’.

Lipa’s Album was released on June 2, 2017. Her song ‘New Rules’ became her first number 1 in the UK. Amongst all of her success already, Lipa has so much more in store for us and we have a feeling she is not even close to scratching the surface with her amazing ‘Dark pop’ aesthetic and raspy, but always on point vocals. Do not sleep on Dua!
