DONALD TRUMP AND JEFF SESSIONS SEEKS TO END AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS

In story first broke by the New York Times, the Department of Justice lead by Attorney General Jeff Sessions is looking to take on affirmative action in college admissions. 

In a memo spread internally, the Justice Department wants to start suing universities who may have admitted minority students from disadvantaged backgrounds over equally or more qualified white students.

The Department wants to pull redirect resources from the civil rights division into  “investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.”

Some universities implement programs that help to admit students from historically disadvantaged groups, but who have overcome difficult odds and circumstances  to achieve academically.
