Earlier this month Lyrica Anderson dropped her sophomore album, Adia. With hits like the first single “Don’t Take it Personal,” “Somebody” and “Late Night,” you can listen to the album all the way through and never feel the need to skip a track. With minimal features, Lyrica managed to make it on the latest predictions for future Billboard 200 success. Her Instagram followers have recently increased by 200,000 and her artist adds on Pandora have went up 300 percent. In addition to that, she has had 18,000 views on her Wikipedia page. She is currently doing a radio tour and Lyrica shows no signs of slowing down.

Some of you may know Lyrica from Love and Hip Hop Hollywood. In 2016, she became a supporting cast member of the VH1 reality series and in 2017, she returned as a main cast member. Watching Love and Hip Hop is how I personally discovered Lyrica. She has been one of the few cast members on the show that has been on her grind and not entertaining drama. On the third season of LHHH, most of Lyrica's story line was involving her mother and her husband A1's mother and their inability to get along. Seeing the older women fight was extremely entertaining, but this season they are friends and Lyrica’s story line transitioned to be all about the completion of her album.

After hearing Lyrica’s voice on LHHH, I looked her up to learn more about her. By doing research, I learned that Lyrica has written music for artists such as Chris Brown, Beyonce, Ty Dolla $ign, Miley Cyrus, Tinashe and more. She has also released a debut album titled Hello, two Eps and one mixtape. Once I started listening to all of her music I was shook. I couldn’t believe I had never heard of this girl before, but I was happy that LHHH made me fully aware. I honestly like all of Lyrica’s music, but my favorite songs are Mean It ft. Sevyn Streeter, When I Needed You, Unf*** You ft. Ty Dolla $ign and Freakin ft. Wiz Khalifa.

Lyrica’s album is good, because it touches on all types of different themes from betrayal, neglect, a sexual encounter and an unhealthy relationship. My absolute favorite track on the album is Unhealthy. In this song Lyrica sings about a relationship where all the couple does is fight, but they stay together, because they can’t let each other go.  Two of my favorite lines in the song are “This relationship is sinking ship and we both bout to drown” and “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a damn thing to be different.” This song is so real and I know a lot of people can relate to knowing they are in an unhealthy relationship but having no intention of leaving.

Lyrica named her album in honor of her late twin sister Adia who passed away when they were three years old. After completing her album Lyrica and A1 attempted to fill a long-standing void by visiting her sister’s graveside.

The album has 15 tracks and features artists such as Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign and even Tyga if you get the deluxe version. Hearing Lyrica’s melodic vocals and runs will have you in your feelings and give you the 90’s RnB vibe that we all miss. Listen to Adia ASAP!
