TEXAS CHURCH MASS SHOOTING: ONE OF THE WORST IN HISTORY
POSTED NOVEMBER 9TH, 2017 | BY TIFFANY GARCIA
According to CNN, 26 people have been killed and another 20 injured. Gunman Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, opened fire outside a church Sunday, continued firing as he entered the church and services were underway.
Kelley previously served in the US Air Force and had a history of violence. In 2012, he was charged in military court on suspicion of assaulting his wife and their child. He received a bad conduct discharge and was demoted. This type of demotion and mark on his military record would have prevented him from purchasing rifles; however, his conviction was never reported to the National Criminal Information Center.
The shooter fled the church and was later found in his car with a self inflicted gun shot wound.
Among the 26 victims, majority were children. The victims age range from 17 months to 77 years old.
