Twist, braid, dread. Kinky, curly, wavy, coily. Through the years, African American women’s hair has been an uphill battle. For the longest, society has viewed our natural hair as unkempt, wild, and nappy. But with the recent natural hair movement, we are embracing our curls and kinks and taking control of the narrative of how our beauty is defined.
However, in the natural hair community, still many of the popular influencers on social media tend to have European features – softer curls and lighter skin tone. What about the darker brown beauties with tighter curls?
